Steering my imagination towards beauty, humour, hope, stillness everything but helplessness amidst an unanticipated social lock down.

MY JOURNEY

I am a graduate of the National Institute of Design (NID Ahmedabad, India - 2017) in Visual Communication, with specialization in Film & Video Communication.

Following my studies, I was a part of SPS Community Media (Madhya Pradesh, India 2017 - 2019), an NGO working for water & livelihood security in the dry lands of central India. Here, I worked closely with women farmers and children from tribal village communities. I was actively involved in creating dialogues around forest degradation, pesticide-free farming, health & nutritional-security, woman empowerment, tackling the plastic problem etc. through mediums such as print, cinema and digital magazines.

My work has primarily revolved around Documentary Film-Production (scripting, direction, photography, editing, sound recording, sound design). Yet, being an inherently curious and multi-faceted person, I have played several roles in the professional creative sphere. This includes my contributions in Ethnographic Research, Project Coordination, Visual Design, Design Education to name a few. My strong fascination for experimental audio-visual storytelling has often led me to work closely with animators and pursue illustration & sound design myself.

I am the recipient of the prestigious ‘TOTO Award for Short Film’ for my student documentary project, Dive (2017). My latest film, Jaadui Jungle (Magical Forest, 2019), addresses the issue of rampantly rising Forest Fires in India. The film has been showcased at UNICEF Innocenti Film Festival (2019), 16th IAWRT Asian Women's Film Festival (2020), along with screenings at many other national and international film festivals across India.
